How do you remove the dashboard? I want to customise it, but before i start i was wondering if anyone has any tips or a procedure on how to do it. Also are there any hidden screws or clips that i should know about?

From what i can remember, there's four bolts holding it in at the top(two behind the passengers airbag and two behind the steering rack), two at the bottom on L-shaped brackets and two on the sides! + all of the wiring loom that's attached to it.

It's a pig of a job to get out!

I want to remove the centre air vents to put a pioneer AV/ satnav system, so i'd need to block off the pipe work behind it. I'd prefer to put it in the vents rather rather than the aircon control facia, i think it'll look neater. But if it's going to be to much work i may have to resort to the second option.

it's easy (well i've removed a few now)

hardest part i think is getting the loom off of the dashboard as it's cable tied and held in with rubber band type things

the fuse panel is also held to the dash board so you'll need to undo that aswell, couple of hours should see it out easily

Would you say there is much to remove from behind the centre air vents?

it looks like this when the dash is out, from memory the ducting for the side vents is joined to the centre vents so should just be a matter of re-routing the pipework to come straight out the side vents

the ducting comes out with the dashboard when you remove it

its a serious network of stuff behind the old dash isnt it!!! Nice idea with the pioneer satnav system, i think it will look really good in that position!

Thanks Roly thats a big help. Do you think i would i have to cut or remove any of this circled in red?

I think i may have to take a few days off work to tackle this.

remember to put all the small screws and bits into a box so that you dont have any mystery bits left over when its done....lol;)

lol i was thinkin of using velco, i can't be arsed with screws.

i think the one at the front is the bit that you need to play about with, from memory that's what links to the vents and then the one at the back is to do with the windscreen vents at the back of the dashboard
