Hi all

I have tried to spray WD40 into my passenger wing mirror as it seems to grind as it folds down. This has not worked:( I would like to remove the plastic casing to lubricaye further but how do I remove it with damaging the edges when prising it off??. Any ideas?

Ok you need to remove the glass with string or cable ties at each end but be very careful, there are clips inside to take the cap off other wise you will break it and have to buy a new one.

Just adjust the mirror as far in as you can, get a long thin screwdriver in behind the glass and use the tip to unclip one of the tangs holding the cover on (you can only really reach one of them this way, so whatever one you can see/reach is the one you need). This will make the cover a little loose, then you can get your fingernails in around the edges and pop the other tangs and it will come off. No need to remove the glass at all.

Is the glass on clips or will this pop out really easily??

The glass is on clips, yes. Wrap a cable tie behind (one each side) loop them so as to make 2 loops/handles and pull. You need to pull quite hard though.

As said, you do not need to remove the glass to pop the covers off.
