Renault Megane 1.5 dci????
Hello Guys,

Unfortunately my gearbox went on my Ibiza 1.4 earlier in the week, and have been quoted £500 for a re-build. So I have been looking at cheap/cheap to run cars I could buy and use for the next few months. Just so I can save some money for a diesel ibiza/leon.
I have looked at a fair few cars in the past week and have come up with a renault megane 1.5 dci 52 plate and 50k on the clock. Now i know its french and all, but I can't help to think that it could be worth the money for the coming months (1 year tops).
Have any of you owned one of these? No anyone who has?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Firstly think what the minimum tine you will need to save for the car, then get yourself to a local car auction and buy the cheapest car dependant on how long you expect it to last so if you going to need six months and there is a cheap like fiesta with 6 Months mot and tax rock that out

I personally wouldn't touch any Renault myself, everybody I know has had major problems with theirs (one costing 100s of £s) although each to their own :)

I second the fiesta tbh, cheap cars and reliable, my first car was a '98 fiesta. Was very nippy too. Never let me down

Stay away! Just Google it, the DCi engines are plagued with faults.

My cousin has a Clio 1.5 dci on an 02 plate and in short, have paid out more in repairs than they paid for the car nearly 3 years ago, including a recon engine at 75k
