Anyone know if it's possible to repair a scuff in the plastic on a Freetrack wheel arch? I've just spotted a scrape about 4" long and a couple of inches wide, not too deep. No idea how it happened. Suggestions so far include:

  • Some gentle work with a scouring pad (no idea what one of those is, will have to check with the missus:think:)
  • Brasso + soft cloth
  • Forget about it, you're stuck with it.

The last thing I want to do is make it worse.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Rog.

Option C... If it's the kind of plastic I think it is, nothing will make it look a lot better.

Maybe some very light sanding to remove any high points?

The trim is just 'stuck' on the wing, so you could just replace it. Not that cheap, but it it's annoying enough...

For example:

Front left wing trim primed - 5P8 853 717 (B) GRU ~ £90
Front right wing trim primed - 5P8 853 718 (B) GRU ~ £90

Whatever you do don't scrub it as it is a painted surface, the plastic trims arrive in primer and have to be painted before fitting to replace existing damaged trims, it seems to be a rubberised paint and i bet you would make a real pigs ear of it .
Good luck

Yes, you're right - I was thinking the plastic was a natural/self-coloured finish, but looking at the odd chip where the bumper has been scuffed by putting things in the hatch, it looks black beneath the grey rubbery paint. Plus the bumpers/trims are different colours depending on the main bodywork colour on Freetracks. I guess this could mean that it could be repainted though? I guess I'll just live with it until I'm feeling flush enough to let a professional loose on it.
Thanks for all the replies.
