Title explains it all, i want to replace the buttons on my fob, i've ordered a replacement part, but want to know if theres a specific way about it to go to take the key to bits, will i need to do anything with regards to central locking due to the battery being disconnected?

Cheers

And i want to replace it due to the hole in the boot button :p

If you are only swaping over the central locking buttons then you only need to remove the whole circuit board inside the fob. It is held in place buy two small plastic pins that have been sort of melted at the end to prevent the board coming off. Carefully cut them or pull the board gently from these. It does take a bit care but eventually it will come off. Then simply place in your new fob. The new pins don't need to be melted over. It does stay in place with the back of the case anyway.

This is a 3rd Gen key, nearly impossible to take apart. With non removable immobiliser chips, check 3rd Gen VW key on Youtube.

Yeah it's easier on the 2nd gen key as you'd have on an earlier Mk2.

I did it on mine but was really disappointed with the quality of the replacement button pad. Worn out already after about 6 months usage :(
