Hey everyone, hope you're all keeping well - got myself a Leon FR MK3 (facelift) earlier this year and absolutely love it.

I'm looking to replace the interior lights to blue (just cos I really like blue!)
I'm a little confused with the front lights. They're already LEDs and don't look like they can come out. The footwell and rear lights are like the modules you can replace (I've already done the rears)

Has anyone got any advice on whether I can replace the front interior LED?

Cheers guys
Z

The interior lights in my July 2018 FR seem not to be an intensive enough white to be LEDs so I would also like to change them. Any advice gratefully received.

Which front LEDs are you referring to?

The two lights for the vanity mirror/sun visor, the two map reading lights, two submarine lights (to illuminate the centre console) or light in the centre console (near to usb in)?

Hi mate,
I'm referring to the two map reading lights that come on when you open the doors.
Thanks

If you have the interior LED option (not sure if standard on FL), then these have a single SMD with a plastic reflector lens unit to direct the light to either side of the car.

Yea that's exactly what I have, does that mean that if I wanted blue lighting I have to get a new board? :/

If you use a plastic trim tool you can pop off the outer lens cover - the inner directional lens is held on with three plastic tabs, but they are not held in that well - one of mine fell out as I removed the outer cover. I would buy some self adhesive blue tinted film and cover the inner lens; if it looks rubbish you can the remove the film.

Lol that's such a straight forward solution, I feel a bit thick for not thinking that myself! Thanks for your help mate.

No worries - more permanent solution would be blue OHP pen / marker pen or a very light spray with blue modellers paint suitable for plastics.

Sounds good, I'll give the blue tint film a go and see how it looks :)

Hi mate I thought I'd show you (and anyone else with the same idea) what the result of using the self adhesive film looks like.
I had already fitted blue less to the rear as you can see in the first pic. The second pic show what putting the blue tint film looks like on the front lights. The last two pics show what the car looks like from the outside.

Apologies for the crap quality of the photos, I'm using my "back-up" device!

Initially I wondered if putting a film would make the lights a lot less bright...but it really doesn't.

I'm really happy with the result... Can't go wrong for a couple of quid

Thanks again black sheep
