I have just read the excellent guide for replacing front brake pads on a LCR. Is it basically the same for the rear too? Are there any tips or a guide please?

Mark.

BTW The DS2500s state for "Race Use Only" Should I be concerned about this?

caliper wind back tool.... dont start the job without one.
dont wind the piston out all the way.

if in doubt dont start the job. rear pistons do not just push back. they need to be wound back with the correct tool ideally. Halfords sell em I believe... all VAG cars need em for rear calipers.

race use is only to cover their ar$e as they work more than 15% better than OE which classifies them non road std. (the daft regulation being +/- 15% not just within 15% of OE spec from the lower end)..
They are excellent pads with a lot of hapy customers using them. panic ye not :)

eg:
1. Performance: Pads must be tested by an independent authorised body and must perform within ± 15% of the original friction material. The original brake pads are tested and the results are recorded for comparison. Then the aftermarket pad is tested in exactly the same way and the results are compared. Both sets of pads are initially put through a bedding in cycle, weighed and measured for thickness. They are then put through a series of brake simulations using a Dynamometer or on vehicle tests.

These tests simulate braking at different speeds. Further tests are then done to determine the performance, fade and recovery characteristics.

If the aftermarket pad performs to ± 15% of the original counterpart then a certificate of conformance and E number is issued

2. Packaging: The outer packaging label must be marked with a defined set of information as shown.Including an illustration, application, contents and the approval number. The box must be tamper proof and contain a set of fitting instructions.

The pad must also have the corresponding E number displayed on the backplate.
