question for all you VAG wiring gurus out there..
would it be possible to retrofit the steeringwheel from a Leon FR DSG to my Ibiza FR DSG?
does seem stupid i know but one thing i must admit i hate about my car, the location of the audio controls!
my old mk 4 had controls on the steeringwheel why have they removed them??!
progressing backwads i suppose...

anyways i got the chance to get a Leon FR DSG wheel quite cheap (which has the controls on the wheel) was wondering if anyone knows if this is even possible to retrofit?

worthwhile mod?
any help would be apretiated thanks

Well the Leon wheel has the controls on for the mfd aswell, which the ibiza only has a basic display. You don't realise how much bigger the Leon wheel is aswell til you compare them.

I'd be surprised if the buttons worked. The Audi has a MMI system for ICE which operates very differently to the SEAT Audio system, and the buttons would also control the Audi's DIS but the SEAT MFD is done by the right hand stalk.

Having said all that... I reckon when the facelift comes we can expect the MFSW to return and a change over to VW RCD/ RNS ICE systems as per the Leon.

I am astounded that as yet, in an effort to cut costs across the board, they dont streamline all this and have the same systems for all brands. Sorry, just wondering out loud......
carry on.

They usually do, at least between SEAT, Skoda and VW, but Audi's are more high end. The Ibiza seems to be a bit of an exception in the SEAT range with regards to the stalk for audio controls (no other current VAG car has that).

Lets be honest, the Ibiza has been built on the cheap using the lowest cost parts that VAG could get. That audio stalk is an afterthought. The head unit display looks like the character set from an old Sinclair ZX81. It isn't as though it would have cost a lot to get it right.

I quite like the stereo and climate control screens, i dont however like the trip computer we get. Its ok dont get me wrong but the polo and fabia get the fancy one that displays an image of the car ans if the door is open (like the leon) ibiza one is rubbish by comparison
Dont get me wrong the display looks gourgous really suits the design of the interior well.. i just think its lacking features.
