Rev limit @ 5000

I've gotta ibiza 2.0 8v on a 97/R after an overheatin problem i've replaced the head gasket but whilst doin that the hall sensor (on the side of the dizzy) went tits up and needed replacing. Now, the car is hittin the rev limiter at 5000 rpm.
Any ideas???

Arite mate have you checked the timing is spot on. my mate had the same problem after he got his belt changed. The camshaft and distributor pulley where a couple of teeth out.

yeah, sounds like the timing is screwed.

you'll probably find it's also 'pinking' if it's too far out.

i did my own cambelt, got the cam and crank bang on, but didnt realise my dizzy ran off the oil pump pulley, barley ticked over around 300rpm!.. if its running u maybe be able to get away to fine adjustments by rotating the dizzy.

Or the ECUs in limp-home mode, which is equally possible, I just don't know how the 8v ECU reacts to dead sensors (?)
