hi all

finally got the cash together for a remap but i dont know what to go for...
basically all i want to know is which i should go for, a revo or a superchip please guys?

im a bit of a retard when it comes to cars, but the revo looks a lot better than the superchip-it puts bhp up to 170 and torque to 290 for £400 wheras superchip only puts it up to 161 bhp and a 56 nm torque gain. my seat dealer has recommended the superchip because it wont invalidate my warranty but its nearly £500. do any of you know if a revo invalidated your warranty?

also, heard that the extra power can require a new clutch, is this true?

thanks everyone

Not sure why your dealer has said it wont invalidate your warranty, but they both in theory will. It only invalidates parts which can be linked to the remap. I wonder wether he gets any back handers for getting customers cars superchiped

I would suggest going for Revo or a Similar remap (CC), ive not heard any problems with superchips, but they are not the usual choice for PD Dervs.

With Revo if you turn the remap before every service and 'forget' to tell them its remapped... how will the know? ;)

If you use the whole rev range and withold from flooring the car from under 2500 RPM your clutch should be fine. Im still on my original... just.

apparently the superchip company they use offers their own warranty on the ecu or something? but yeah i think there were backhanders flying about up there. what was the revo alternative you spoke of mate?

Have a search round...

The most popular are Revo, Custom code, and a few mobile remappers on here, who all have good write ups.

Hi there

As said previously in the thread ALL remaps, chips etc etc will invalidate the warranty.

If the dealers know what to look for they will find if the cars been mapped or not.

We can offer a phase 1 for your car which will see the bhp raised to 170-175bhp and you will see 280-310ft/lb of torque.

The price for the phase 1 is £475.88 inc VAT...The RRP for this is £450 + VAT but we are currently offering a 10% discount.

Also we would recommend a green cotton panel filter and the PD160 intake, see the JBS Auto Designs forum for the latest offers.

If you would like any more info please see www.custom-code.co.uk or call us on 01246 455004

Superchips can warrant the engine as well as the map, however that may not apply if you go for a custom map, this tends to be apply for a mild but noticable power/torque increasing map.

They are unique in that sense. That said, I'd want that in writing just in case ;)

ok thanks a lot everyone, got a lot to think about now! does anyone know how much a revo will cost at the moment?

mine came out at 468 all together inc vat. 1hours job well worth it! I had a race with a Honda S2000 and guess who won? :funk: MEEEEEE! the girl racer driver wasn't very pleased. :p

The Girl racer also didnt know how to drive! As much as I would love to hear stories of people beating a car that does 0-60 in 6.1 seconds and has the gearbox and handling to match its incredible 9000rpm rev limit - I probably wont hear to many!

Custom Code for me too, seems to hold the power much better than other maps ive seen (1.2 bar at 5000 revs for me!) and theres no silly spiking.

Looking at past Awesome RR's, the torque is delivered very gradually also so its probably the most clutch friendly.

do revo take modifications into account like cc do just means your getting the best out of you mods and the power??
