Doing 80mph in 6th @ 3250rpm
90mph in 6th @ 3500rpm

Now this seems high for me, used to do 80mph @2500 in the 320d 6 speed.

anyone comment?

The whole car is standard wheels are the 17" cupra ones.

The speedo is correct as I checked with GPS to make sure speedo wasnt under reading

when on the motorway doing 80mph, I took foot off gas to see if revs dropped but it held there. I thought if they dropped, it would be clutch slipping

does this sound like clutch??

Need some help as it means it is drinking more fuel being at higher rpm

BTW defo not in 4th, I thought id could be first until I stuck it in 4th

Its either a fault in the speedo or rev counter or a clutch problem.
Have you got one of those speed indicators that are in villages to slow you by telling you how fast you are going? If so go through in 6th gear at 1000rpm. In 6th you should have 36/38 on the speedo and about 32/33 on the speed sign
