Hi All,

Got a problem with my K1 when changing gears at about 3k or higher the revs seem to hold and not drop when i let off the accelerator. If i red line 1st and then put clutch in the revs stay high for a few seconds (well it feels like it). If in 2nd and driving towards speed bumps i let of accelerator and car keeps speeding up.

Any idea guys? My mate said it could be throttle body needs resetting.

Cheers

Luke - Cupra bumpers will cure yours. Weegie - a smaller signature will sort yours

Mine has done this on and off and I have seen it in other Cupra's in various stages of tune with various maps. Never really worried about it as it is a once in a blue moon thing.

In seriousness, check the PCV, plugs, cam follower etc.

Pretty sure the detail is in the FAQ guide.

If you have the engine cover still on the car, you would need to take it off. In fairness, it probably wont be the plugs - the symptoms of that would be a mis-fire.

Cam follower should be checked as a matter of course anyway. The fuel pump needs to come off for that - there is a guide on APR's web site to swap the pump (same thing) and you can check the follower when the pump is off. In fairness again, this doesn't sound like the fault here either though.

PCV sits at the top of the engine and exhausts itself further down. It sometimes fails to work correctly with age although symptoms are more likely to be bad idle than revs staying high. Worth also checking to make sure air intake/feed is sitting on the intake to the turbo securely.

My mate had a problem like his on his Audi A4 his revs kept holding for a few seconds then dropped through most if not all the gears. He ended up replacing his reserc valve for a standard dump valve and he told me this sorted his problem of the revs holding when changing gear. Now wether this is true or not. I Just thought I'd throw it out there.
