Hi guys quick question. I have the RNS 315 sat nav Head unit, and Im about to fit an amp and interface. This will involve dissconnecting the battery. Will I need to do anything on re-connection? In the olden days you needed your radio code, but today I think the head unit is married to the car via vagcom. So can you just plug it back in and it will reconise the car and work straight away. Cheers guys.

Yeah it does surely. Ive had my battery out a few times, to fit the battery box/cover. My media system didnt need coded
Ahh I thought so, thank you. I just didnt want the installers ringing me up saying they couldnt get the stereo back on.
When i installed my Amp n Sub my RNS 510 lost connection to the MFD, I still need to get mine coded!
I have done a couple now ... I am heading down to REVO on the 6th April ... i am sure you will be sorted by then ... but if not i will pop over!!
No real tips appart from do your research on what needs to be coded and when you code something new like a RNS radio there are standard options that need to be removed.

The few you've coded what kind of issues did they have with Rns 510?
Great if your coming down to Revo in April i rather wait and have you look at it.
In the meantime i will do my research and find out what needs to be coded.
problems i'm having are:
1. Rns 510 system isn't communicating with the car's MFD, ie. Sat nav directions don't show on MFD, bluetooth and Steering controls don't work
2. MIDI device isn't working with the RNS 510.
Well mine was a seat model ... Would not integrate with the mfd, changed for a VW!! I have been told this is because of the CAN update on the 2008 models but yours is a 57 so should be fine unless you have the red dot matrix mfd instead of white!!
If it is white dot matrix then the main issue will be the type of radio coding you have set in your VCDS!!

Again if the midi device is not working I would think it is down to the VCDS coding!!

Hi Jmerrie, are you still coming down to Revo on 6th April? As i still need your magic to sort my system out.
I am hoping so but we have a guy off on sick and there is still the posibilty of beng rota'd in, will be well disapointed.

It is looking doubtful at the moment, I am stuck on a job I am in York over the weekend if you can make it up!! Will bring everything with me!!
Work can be a pain, was just as much looking forward to the stage 2 programming!!
