Couldn't find the exact manual without with paying or signing up to something sketchy, but there are these. Not sure if it will help:

Really? Both are in English for me, even opening the links above. Note that the workshop-manual site is a bit annoying to use, but the link I gave you opens in English, and the PDF file is in English?

I literally just thought that when I re-read your post! Sorry, lol!

Do you have the English DVD for it? From reading around, some posts are saying factory reset the unit and put in the English DVD, and it should reset the language. Failing that, other posts are mentioning using VAGCOM to change settings which is a bit beyond me.

its an older one that’s cd not dvd I’m hoping it’s as simple as putting in an English nav disc I have one coming from eBay

Good luck, you'd have hoped it would have been easier to find out how to change the language. It will only accept an original TravelPilot CD apparently too.
