hi just bought my car and having issues with the rns510 system it all works but sat nag gets no signal at all i have bought a new gps antenna etc and nothing I'm sat at home and shows I'm in swansea lol. i can drive and arrow moves etc any help would be great, i try and update and it states clamp state error

Where have you located the GPS antenna?

hi located in centre of car near the unit as advised on a few vw sites , do they need coding in as had it plugged into vag com and saying gps grounded etc

Just above the unit on a little bracket? As that's where mine is held.

yeah, do new antenna need coding to find signal etc

I, as well as many others who have retrofitted an RNS510 have mounted the gps antenna behind the trim on the pasenger side A Pillar, never had a problem with reception.

Either your antenna is fubarred or you have it too close to the stereo.

id move the gps antenna 1st, if its still not working as it should, get a new antenna off ebay

hi thanks for reply i have bought a new antenna moved it all over the car i accessed secret menu and its an old software version so could this be a issue i tried to update but get clamp state issue any ideas many thanks

oh its the vw rns510 any ideas how to update this I'm thinking of ripping it out lol

You can update it via a disc from the dealers, or there may be one on ebay?

with update disk it says clamp state on mine when i google prob it says turn dash clock from 1hr to 24hr and you can't

Hi mate,

Is your care pre or post facelift?......because it could be an issue with the canbus gateway, you may need to update the firmware, best thing to do is read through this thread as it will contain all you need to know

I think yoy may have an older version of the canbus gateway, which may need updating too.
