just quick question.

Is the rocker cover plastic on the 150? Looks like it is, just wanted to double check. ta

i should hope not!

rocker covers are metal as once you take it off, you will have the camshaft in front of you.

i think you mean the plastic engine cover? just there to make the engine bay look neat.

not all are metal, zetec engines for example are plastic. i dont mean the engine cover.

two types, sprayed black alloy and plastic trust me. was on 1.8 and 2.0. me bad, should have said some zetecs.

no probs why dont ya paint it iv painted my engine cover my battery cover my air box and im doin other parts aswell in gloss black and doin my intercooler pipes red soon.

It's an unstressed cover, away from the hot bits of the engine and only there to keep oil spray in and bits of dirt out. Conventionally it is made from aluminium alloy, like the cylinder head, so has the same expansion characteristics. Obviously engineering plastics have advanced to the point that they can be used for this. I expect the gasket is a neoprene cord, to give some elasticity to the seal.

Definitely plastic, but it is a real thick tough plastic, with a decent rubber gasket and loads of bolt down points to keep it sealed tight. :) It gets warm, but not excessively so.
