Rolling road only produced 259bhp :(

Hi guys, took my 280 to be rolling roaded yesterday at a local event as saw on here a few others had more than 280 from factory and it produced a disappointing 259bhp. Car is only 4 months old, got 7k on the clock any reason maybe for this, or is it just some cars will come out of the factory running slightly more or less power?

A few things to take in to account;

Accuracy of the Dyno being used
The temperature of the air in the room
Did you hoon it on the way down to get your ecu fueling correctly
Are you using V-power or 97 ron as recommended

no, take it back now! you should be making more. There was another SEAT owner on here had same problem as you but got rid as he didnt like the rest of it as well. I am sure some helpful person will dig it out and post it here but ive always thought they gave him a 265 cupra by accident.

Bad news: Seat will never be convinced by a dyno plot so its unlikely that you will get them to admit to it, but worth a shot.

Good news: A simple remap will bring you back to decent power as even seat couldnt mess up installing the hardware! (and its the perfect excuse to do so)

jamie, points would be valid if there had been no other cupra's at the event, in this case its clear in my mind that there is something wrong with the op's current map settings.

Misread it as they were at previous times, where are the cupra meets at? I'm always out at meets in London and the East of England and I never see another cupra 280!

Sorry about the late reply guys....

Can't think of the correct term right now lol but it was 259bhp it produced. My mates vxr produced roughly about what it was this time last year 232bhp standard. Printout is in the car which I don't have access to right this minute, but can't post pics anyway as haven't done 15 posts yet.

However he did say he was having problems on the dyno with the DSG not holding 5th gear and upshifting aswel as another earlier on in the day on a Golf GTI before I arrived, so kind of hoping it's a bit inaccurate and down to that.

A lot of other people there also got the figures around what they were expecting but none were DSG apart from mine and the golf.

I have an Audi A3 also that is running 252bhp which was rolling roaded at AMD Essex last year, amd this FEELS like it pisses all over it, although I am yet to actually line the 2 up.

Think I may have to take it to somewhere a bit more reputable that is used to VAG/DSG and see what it produces, as this was just a local meet at a tuners near my house that I was passing not really a specialist.

Thanks for replies anyway

A lot of people got the power roughly what they were expecting however none were DSG apart from one he had a problem with earlier in the day.

Not to sure about the temp, was very well ventilated and fans at front of car.

Was only 5 mins away from house, didn't really push it too much, and was parked up prob for about 15 mins before it went on. Was just passing on my motorbike, saw it and though hmmmm want to go get the Cupra now and see what it produces lol.

Car is normally always run on Shell V Power or Tesco Momentum, however was running a little low on fuel so stuck £20 of BP Ultimate in around the corner from the place.

Deffo something not right, I know of about 4-5 that have made 300+ mine included.

Yeah that's the only reason I decided to take it as I saw a few people have had 300+ so wanted to see if mine was the same. Not really pushed it that much yet, but against my mates new Focus St it left it standing it on the motorway and they are about 250bhp aren't they?

Just hoping it was down to the garage not really knowing what that were doing properly with the DSG

No there was no Cupras at the event, well no new ones anyway. Only thing that was similar was a new Golf Gti DSG which they said they had problems with...

The key info is basically the make and model of dyno, which gear the pull was measured in and if its measuring wheel horsepower/torque or calculating crank horsepower from the wheel torque (assuming wasn't a hub dyno with the front wheels removed?).

Sometimes the dyno has auto-correction applied for environmental factors such as intake air temp, air pressure and ambient air temp too.

I doubt theres anything wrong with your car tbh, it just that often the results are confusing for joe public as there are so many correction factors and ways of presenting the data!

Ahh my apologies to Jamie then, it was ME that miss read your post.

Yeah good chance it was the operators fault then if the gti was also having difficulties.

If you really did want to see the accuracy of your bhp then I suggest popping along to R-tech in Hinckley, its the most accurate dyno in your location

Not to sure on make and model of it. I'm sure he said it was done in 5th gear. No front wheels weren't removed either. Everyone else got the power they were expecting roughly also. I'll go grab the printout in a bit and put what it says exactly on here.
