Hi.

Dipping into the world of roof boxes & just looking for some advice.

I have ordered a pair of genuine seat roof bars & they are en route. 1st question, probably being thick but how do the rear bars fix on? I understand the front ones screw into the holes already there but not sure of the rears as no holes.

With the roof box itself, what have people generally gone for. Want a big box but not one that looks stupidly bigger than the car suits. I've been looking at the 430l - 470l mark. I get boxes design will makes them bigger or smaller but generally they'll be around the same dimensions.

Any help or experience share would be greatly received.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I have a Kamei Delphin 340K (340 litre) passenger side opening box, mounted to Thule aero bars.

The box came from the roof box company. Have to say they were brilliant to deal with and had lots of advice. It doubles what I can carry. It's a half width box that leaves room for two bike carriers. It looks fine on the car. It's proved really good for trips away with a young family, travel cot fits in with loads of bags with ease.

Hope that helps.

I've got the same issue - I am thinking of getting a roof box (while kicking myself for not buying the XL variant, not just bog standard Altea!).

My Altea doesn't have roof bars so I presume I'll need to buy some aftermarket crossbars that fit in some holes?
BTW, what is your view on foldable boxes?
