Mu leon FR has quite a noticeable loud rumble from the rear when at 20mph, doesn't matter about gear and also does it when free wheeling.
The Car has 64k on the clock so could this be the wheel bearing or is this the tyre wear issue. I have read plenty of threads and the tyre wear issue was on early models but mine is a FL.

thanks

well, tyre wear is obvious. can you see it ?
jack it up and spin the rear wheels, you will soon see the stepped inner edge and be able to hear / feel if its a bearing.

id hedge my bets on the uneven rear tyre wear, just had my 50k service and this was pointed out

Seat say its a tyre issue. the tyre companies say its an issue with the car and the wheel alignment. might be an idea to get 4 wheel alignment check as and when you put new tyres on

If it's a wheel bearing it'll be a constant humming! pay attention on corners, when the car's suspension is raised or lifting the weight off the wheel the humming noise will be quieter.

I had the same thing with my FR about this time last year. I was told it was uneven stepped tyre wear on the rear tyres but apart from the noise there was nothing to be over concerened about and it was quite safe to continue to drive on them. My local SEAT dealer did say that it was a common problem with the FR. I put up with the noise all last winter although at times I too wondered if there was something more seriously wrong.

When I had it serviced in March this year I had new rear tyres fitted and the car has been running relatively quietly since then - problem solved.

I jacked my Leon FR up after hearing a rumbling for a few weeks. The rear nearside wheel was out of shape, literally a lump on the tyre which looks like it was separating. Had this twice now, I didn't realise what it was the first time. I've actually bought a spare alloy as I thought it may have been a buckled wheel seeing as it was the same wheel twice. The tyre was worn evenly (still has around 6mm tread left). Seems it may be a common fault but it's lead me to the point that I may sell up. Mate at work has a Exeo and he's mentioned the same and ended up putting 2 new rear tyres on. It's a bit poor if it's a common fault and tyres are getting changed far sooner than needed.
