i am now a very happy owner of a 16v cupra but she needs some work on the rear arches...?simple enuff 2 diy???? or shud i pay some1 2 do it? im n the lincs area

dude, its a common problem, mine are pretty much foobared...take the rear arch lining out and you will dig out about ten years worth of mud and crap...then see how bad it is

if you aint confident in doing it yourself then let a pro do it and get it done right 1st time!

I must be really lucky, my car is nearly 11 year old and I have no signs of the rear arches going. Im cleaning them out of the mud etc every 6-12 months.

Only rust I have in that area is on the lip from the wing, and thats it. That is going to be repaired in the better weather though.

same here! mine`s on a T and it aint rusting at all. keeping it clean underneath the arch`s (isnt that a song??) is paying off after all!

same, the arches my first mk2 (1litre P reg) were shot, but my current S reg 16v is fine except for a tiny bubble on the tailgate next to the rear windscreen, apparently another common rust spot

im going to pay a proffesional body shop to do mine as they are getting worse by the day. its spreading fast. large bits are flaking off now :(

my old ibiza a yellow 1.4s was the cleanest ibiza ive ever seen..it was spot on...not a mark on it atall...the rear arches were cleaner then anything...my one now tho was bad from when i bought the car but as its expected of these, what can i do! lol
