Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but i'm hoping to fit an Audi S3 intercooler to my K1 next month.

Are they a drop in fit or is some tweaking required to get them in?

Thanks

They aren't quite a straight swap assuming its the decent S3 intercooler your fitting as seen on the 2007-2009 S3 and not the inferior intercooler on the CDLA engined Leon Cupra R/S3 from 2009-2012 which has the same thicker core as the older S3 intercooler but with the small plastic end tanks as seen on the original Leon Cupra intercooler rather than the large metal end tanks as on the early 2007-2009 S3 intercoolers. Different bolts are needed to fix the stainless S3 core to the stack than the original plastic screws on the Cupra intercooler.

Also, both variants of the S3 intercooler use different boost hoses to the Cupra intercooler.

Fitment/space wise, both S3 intercoolers will fit no problem as mentioned above.

ill probably get the older s3 fmic where would i get the bolts/pipes to fit it m8?

just bolt straight in only difference is the s3 is all alloy and not got plastic ends :)

The sale of the intercooler I had dibs on may have fallen through, but i've found another minus the pipes.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the correct pipes to fit it?

Thanks

Can you use the hoses of the stock intercooler or are they a different size due to the difference in end tanks?

I used the original hoses. I cut the alluminium ends off length ways. Put the end in a vice and make 4 cuts around the connector, being careful not to cut too far down, as the connectors are only thin walled. Then prise the inner / outer parts away from the hose, job done. I then used jubilee clips, 67 / 63 was the size used iirc.
Hoses go straight onto the S3 ends.
