S3 Intercooler fitting

Seems to be a cursed acquisition this! Had 2 'deals' in place, only for the sellers to decide they want to keep them.

I've been offered several with the plastic end tanks, but it was the alloy ended one i'm after.

Are they getting harder to find for a decent price or is it just me? lol

Anybody have one going spare??!!

im guessing VAG have stopped making them in favour of the new S3 intercooler with plastic caps so it seems they are getting rarer

Yeah, seems every model from 2009 onward has the plastic ends.

At least I know i can get them from darksidedevelopments, but they're a bit too expensive for me when new.

just wanted a rough idea where the screws were
remove front grill,engine pan off/undo bumper fixings underneath
remove screws from both arches
anymore?

can any one explain why the plastic end tanks are such a bad idea other than it not beeen a solid aliminum welded unit ?


i find the end tanks dont need to absorb heat as ther is no fins to disperce the heat liek teh rest of the intercooler


the plastic wont retain anywere neer as much heat as the aliminum has any test been done


on the old s3 vs new s3 intercooler ?
