Hi all,

I really want to get a MFD2 for my new leon when it comes. Does anyone know of anyone selling one at the min?

I have had a nose on ebay but the postage seems steep at 33.00 so it there is someone over here with one I would be happy to purchase.

Cheers
Si

I have looked for SEAT specific MFD2s but after seeing some pictures of one (check out http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=133788) I have decided the colours are too garish so am going to go for an MFD3

What I did discover is that SEAT MFD2s are rarer than rocking horse $h!t3 and therefore have a premium. Ebay seller nikin777 currently has a CD one for £380 inc. postage but this isn't listed, I contacted the seller directly. Considering the VW DVD ones go for little more I would go for one of those. The earlier MFD2s (I had one in my Golf MkV) have an extremely confusing interface which was much improved (with better named menus and the ability to show the map and large directions split screen) in later revisions. Go for and MFD2 which has chromed buttons in order to get the later revisions. C or D is best, I believe.

Or, like me, save up and go for an MFD3...

Ask DanGB for his opinions on his MFD3

mfd3 is problem to get, I had last one yesterday for 700 pounds, I hope I will get them next week. Guys be careful, here in czech rep some people trying sell fakes or testing models, they dont work or having problems. They have a MP3 sign on the top and star on the right upper corner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just bought one in wendsday :-(, I hope I will find that guy.

Just a couple of updates from my unit.

If you have the MFD display on the dash, the clock will be shifted to the right, cutting off the minutes.
Apparently this is typical if you use a non-seat Satnav unit in a Seat. This happens on mine.

Postcode search is very poor, plus you cant enter the full postcode.

When playing CD's it seems to leave a small gap between tracks, so if you listen to dance CD mines like me, there is an annoying short pause between tracks.

Only the volume controls work on the steering will, this may just be a MY2006 thing not sure.
When in Navigation mode or audio mode on the MFD, I indicator stlaks wont let me get out of those modes, i have to turn the unit off and go back to the MFD main menu. Again, this might be just a MY2006 thing, but cant confirm.

My unit freezes for a few seconds occasionally on a long journey, or might stop playing a CD, this maybe becuase my unit has a very early firmware version.

Hope this helps :)

Dan,

Yours doesn't have MP3 and a Star as per Tommy's pics, does it?! ;)

My MFD2 in my Golf used to leave gaps in between tracks as well... And it sounds as if the Postcode search hasn't got much better!

With the MFD3 it has a hardrive on which the maps are stored. There is also space left over to store music on it, but you could also play a CD / DVD full of MP3s. With the MFD2 the maps are on a disc (depending on model either cd or dvd) so you would usually want an external source, either a cd changer or an ipod adapter.
