Sat Nav upgrade

Hi all,

I own a 2015 Seat Leon Cupra 280 and my sat nav sd card is now 6 years old, I'm looking to buy a more recent one (2020/2021 ideally) and I've found one on ebay which says it fits Leon nav systems aged 2015-2018, but it also says it only works on MIB2 standard units and not on MIB Gen 1 units or MIB1 standard units. I've looked all over to find out what my unit is but was unable to find out. Can anyone let me know what my unit is or link me to an sd card that will fit in my car?

Thanks in advance!

2015 280 is likely an MIB1, although later ones were MIB2, but that was MY16. Depends on the size of your screen. and USB connection.

If its 6.5" and the connection is in the glovebox with a wire adaptor, then its MIB1

If its larger and USBS under the Climate Controls its MIB2.

That's great thank you so much! Just out of curiosity do you know or recommend anywhere that I could buy an up to date sd sat nav card from? Seat dealership quoted me £130!

Cheers,

If it’s MIB1 then it’s dealer only sadly at the moment, unless @Tell has heard any updates.

If it’s MIB2 then you can update your existing card for free via a guide on here. On my phone right now so hard to get the link to share.

I reckon you are best to use the boards sponsors @East Yorkshire Retrofits else you end up in circles.

If it has a card in it it's the 6p / 5f test as I put on your other thread

If no card obviously it doesn't tell you that. It's then down to the part number which is driven by the firmware.

Picture ?.

There are traps if you go buying random units off the internet, there are threads which you can read and people have done it here. Others buy the kit ready to install themselves from a retrofitter or get a retrofitter to do it for them.

The traps are CP, the looms etc. When CP is removed you can loose the navigation license on the unit so you have to pay for that again. Obviously retrofitters know how to not loose that license or how to put it back.

If it's a mib2 then you buy any old VAG card although a 32gb one is good now. Use the lost card section and the workaround of the resource. That works if it's already been registered.

This is where you need to know whether you have a mib1 or mib2. mib1 sunk for updates. mib2 to get the maps up-to-date there are low cost DIY solutions if you are good with PCs.

Resource:

https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/re...v-mib2-tricks-and-lost-mib1-card-solution.60/

I pass if it's had CP removed... back to the Yorkshire folk.

Comes back to whether you have a card in the unit and it shows 6p or 5f on the info screen as per the check.

5f -> retrofit options to mib2
6p -> lost card section of resource

A picture of the directory list of the card also reveals whether it's mib1 or mib2... or reading the sticky label.
