Been looking for a LCR for a couple of days now and was just wondering if there was Sat Nav as an extra when these cars were new? Has anybody got Sat Nav and is it worth holding off for one with?

Has anyone retro fitted sat nav units to there LCR's, any pics?

They did have SatNav as an option. You can retro fit staandard stuff yes. But you need a new cage and the unit itself + antenna etc.

I think if you can find a scrapped Toledo V5 then you can get all you need from there.

More or less. You need a plug and play lead which you can get from ebay. This will allow the pulse signal to be received by the unit so that the map updates (otherwise the system doesn't know you are moving). Also you will need to install an antenna. I only know this because I got all the stuff for my wifes Bora but the unit is faulty, so all wires etc are in the car but she still has no sat nav. One day I'll send it away to be fixed.

yeah read that.....could do with having a knowledge base on how to do it, what parts etc...that sat nav unit on ebay seems expensive...

then theres the console..

then two aerials? the one on ebay some with an aerial so presume u just need one etc...

someone must have done it before on here...

I've got the standard sat nav in my LCR. Its quite good but there far better out there...The best thing is the way it fits flat into the dash rather than its features!

If I was you I'd buy a Sat Nav head unit and save the pennies!

You only need one aerial not two. It is colour also. You could have the whole set up out of my wifes car, but as I said, there is a problem with the unit so it would have to be sent off for repair, plus it is a VW one, so it illuminates blue not red.

yeah i want a VW one, have you got the different dash for it?

looks like paying out for that is mental......unless u find a car being broken with it in and get it cheaper from a breakers dude!

cool about aerial....i think the link ive provided there says it has the GPRS aerial with it...but its a pricey unit that is...strange as the VW units are cheaper!

Lot of hassle for sat-nav. Buy a TomTom unit instead. If you're concerned about theft, probably best not to own anything expensive looking ;)
