Well as with my luck these days with the car, it was bound to happen.

Dropping my brother off to a wedding and was running late so in a rush. Buzzing around north London trying to find the place. Need to make a 3 point turn however the road was not very wide so had to go up on a drive way. Got on it find however as I was reversed off....scrape!! Well it seems the new suspension made the car noise lower that I have been used to. Underneath the front noise it all scratch and paint massacred.

Good thing is you can see it unless you decide to look under the car. Bad thing is I know its there and its bothering me knowing the car has been damaged, especially due to my negligence.

Anyone know of a good paint repair place in Essex area? Would chips away fix something like this? A LCR splitter is going on so is it worth fixing?

Thanks.

If the paint is just scratched and the surrounding areas look OK, just keep it well protected, well waxed and look after it. If there is more damage than that, it might be worth getting it looked at professionally.

But if it's caused a lot of damage to the paint, there is always a chance that over time that will get worse and the paint will crack, peel or chip away more :)

Had the same problem on my Celica. The front splitter on that was fairly low and after a couple of knocks, you could see the paint cracking and almost wanting to lift away.

lol..Pat if you know where I can get a metting sheild then please let me know :D

The paint has peeled where the ground scratch it. Pat, you saying the front bumper of ours is plastic not metal?

I havent put on the splitter...yet...

The front bumper is definitely plastic. ABS plastic I believe. It wasn't rust I was worried about, it was peeling paint getting worse.

Ok, I will get it professionally looked at. Definately going to get a splitter so if that scrapes it doesnt cost me £100's....

Heh if you went low enough to take paint off the bumper, rest assured you'd have ripped the splitter off! Since it doesn't use the normal connecting bits ( you have to screw it on) it's going to make a mess when it gets pulled out too :)

The car isnt amazingly low though, it just the steep weird shaped drive I went on and of. I have learnt my lesson though, when I get the splitter put on I will go slowly on bumps and sp forth.

Having the splitter does make you very conscious of things like this, so you should be OK. You'll only rip it off if you're going into something at speed I would have thought.

I have the splitter on my car with standard suspension, and managed to scrape it coming off a slope the other day, so I have no idea how you guys with lowered LCRs manage!
