Hello guys,

Just notices today on my Leon XP the piano black panels on the outside of the doors have a lot of small swirls (scratches). Car is only 2 months old. This is only visible if the panels are against direct sunlight, but looks terrible. Car have been only couple of times to a car wash and they always have done contact-free cleaning.

I tried some polish cream, but the swirls could not get away, probably I need some more tough wax to clean them, but since I am not proffesional I don't want to risk.

How is yours? Sorry if I am aksing something already discussed but I could not find such a thread, which supprised me, since this panels look to be very easy scratchable...

Lots of swirls in mine too, only 2 months old as well, guess the gloss black effect must be quite soft :(

Yes, typical piano black soft plastic.

Try an acrylic glaze with fillers. Chemical Guys Wet Mirror Finish works well for me.

Most polishes are too abrasive for this material. Something with really fine micro abrasives such as a pre wax cleaner might work.

DA is the only way to remove swirls, megiuars are pretty good for compounds and polish.

Vinyl wrapping is a cheap & easy solution. I did mine myself last summer. Carbon fibre effect. I have to say I impressed myself & even today I was complemented how good it looks.

Has anyone tried Dodo Juice Lime prime? It's a pre wax with fillers in it. Haven't had the weather to wash mine for the first time, hope it isn't too harsh on the paint.

Yep, that is the way to go if you get the swirls out, vinyl wrap them. Learnt this after my Golf went the same way ,so this time bought some carbon fibre vinyl from ebay, made up a few templates, cut them out and applied, simples:lol:

Can you post a picture or two of the job? I'm thinking of getting this done professionally, have some other bits and bats I'd like doing too.

I've answered my own question! Used it today and it made the piano black panels smooth like glass.

Hope it stays working for you but I suspect the longevity of this will let you down after a couple of rainy weekends.

I'm sure it will eventually degrade again too, although I put a nano sealant/wax hybrid on the top so shall wait and see!
