Hi all. The weather has picked up nicely here down south so it's time to start throughly cleaning the car and preparing it for the summer sun (if it arrives).

I need a sealant to go on top of the polish, wax & glaze that i'll be applying, but I am stuck between two. Any opinions or suggestions on these two or should I go for a different one altogether?

Car is an Ovni Yellow LCR.

what do you mean by 'glaze'?

how often do you do all the above? am i right in thinking that you should wax more frequently than polish? or the other way round? reason i ask is that i recon i'm overdoing it cause the cars startting to look a bit bland

Glaze stops dirt sticking to your paint work as well as being a light paint restorer. It makes your paint very very shiney so if you're after that "wet look", i'd add a glaze to your cleaning inventory.

This will be the 1st time I have used either a glaze or a sealant but i'll be applying both at the same time that I Clay Bar the car (either 4 or 6 monthly).

You should: Wash > Clay > Wash (again) > (Optional use of a Paint Cleanser) > Polish > Glaze > Sealant > Wax (2 layers or more).

Soooo...you should wax more than your polish. The reason for this is that polish is abbrasive and with excessive use, you may end up damaging your paint.

How the hell did cleaning a car become such a complex and over-engineered process.

I'm staggered by how many layers of product need to be smeared across your metal to get an acceptable and lasting finish.

It's become a science, and I just wish I had the time on my hands to be able to consider it (esp. clay barring which must be akin to pulling teeth in the enjoyment factor).

My neighbours think I'm a retarded lunatic because I can be bothered to clean my own car on a weekly basis (as they use the local hand car wash / car wash at BP which saves them from breaking a sweat / effort).

Jace, what's your opinion on the Z5 polish? I have the rest of my list sorted but can't help thinking that there must be a step up from the Meguiars Polish that I have.

List goes:

Megs PH balanced shampoo
Megs Clay Bar
Megs Polish
Chem Guys EZ Creme Glaze
Jetseal 109
Megs & Dodo Orange Crush Carnauba Wax
