I have no doubt that there are some great Indy garages who do everything by the book. But for every good one there are 50, fly by night, rip off, scamming, unequipepped, untrained muppet outfits. They are those giving the motor trade a bad name.

It's a shame people often over look this fact:

"SEAT trained tech's & the all important SEAT dealer stamp retaining value for your car - also with full SEAT Dealer history SEAT are more willing to help contribute and help out with the costs towards repairs once your car is out of warranty as it shows you have had loyalty to the brand"

When they're paying a back street garage to "service" their car because "dealers are a rip off" even though the independent garages are only cheaper by a few quid.

Then they moan like f*ck because Seat won't contribute when they're engine goes tits up in the 4th year because A.N example garage has been using the wrong spec oil and cheap, often nasty filters.

Exactly - seen it too many times before! We had a chap who's ibiza had been getting 'serviced' & we found the sump with 11 litres of oil in it! Hello £3000 engine! He's now a regular customer of ours

I have no sympathy for them I'm afraid.

We replaced a turbo on a Leon after another garage had fitted a second hand unit and left parts of the old turbo in the low pressure inlet elbow which ruined the new turbo in minutes.
We advised an oil pressure check to make sure the engine was in good health and a full decontamination to remove any particles that may have entered the engine. The customer declined and 4 weeks later the big end failed in such a catastrophic manner that number one piston smashed the engine with such ferocity that it blew the oil pump through the sump and smashed 80% of the sump off and straight through the under tray!

The damage was unreal, as was the repair bill
