Hey everyone, Im a newbie over here and Im just one step away from becoming a Cupra 2 owner. I was looking for this model over here in Holland and there are a handfull for sale on the net but many are tuned (optic mostly) and I don't like that. I went to a dealer which had a car that got my attention, I also had a testdrive in it and it felt pretty ok. I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it.

The car is this one http://www.autotrack.nl/owa_dima/ow.../static/vurl_nieuw/style_vrdurl_standaard.css

100% original car

Its fully loaded, except from a electric sunroof but don't need that.

Was in pretty good nick, rims not badly damaged and a few marks but no rust and no dents.

Full service history is present and its delivered with a new MOT

When I was making the testdrive it occurred to me that the clutch was heavy. I drive a Golf MK3 now and the clutch is like stepping on a marsmallow compared to the Cupra. Is this common?

Anxious to hear what you guys think :)

mk3 golf is hydraulic iirc

ibiza is same gearbox style but converted to a cable thats not only too long but self adjusted too and does make it heavy and prone to overstressing the pedal box

if you ever go to a Seat meet - the mk2 owners are at one end all looking liek they are slightly leaning over to one side :p

Try changing the clutch and/or clutch cable. That could make it lighter and prevent the pedal box from breaking aswell.

Well a new clutch cable is easily done but a complete new clutch? Have you done that yourself?

that's a lot of money for a cupra, nearly £3k, are they expensive in Holland?

They are indeed. Thats because the cars are more expensive to buy new over here too. We have something called BPM and you can see it like an extra tax. What they do is take the consumerprice (ex-vat) and take 42,4% of that. Then they add that to the price and an additional 19% vat.

So the high purchase prive affects the second-value too immediately. [:@]
