No? A Cupra R engine is exactly the same as a Cupra but with a lil remap on it....remap a Cupra R and its exactly the same as a remapped Cupra.

Biggest difference really with the Cupra R is the Brembo brakes

The cupra R was a limited production run with only 75 being shipped to the UK, that makes them pretty rare, yes ok they arent "that special" however as with anything thats ever been made in very limited numbers, after time it becomes valuable as the others get destroyed etc

limited edition or rare its still only a SEAT IBIZA at the end of the day... its only ever going to be as valuable or worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it! and lets be honest how much realsitically is someone likely to pay for one even in future years when numbers are in single figures....

So i would be happy to place bets that these "limited production" R's will never be worth a lot as it is not the most desirable car...dont get me wrong i like them im just saying the build quality is poor and the class and style isnt really there Its No future classic.....

i simply purchased this car and van as a small sideline project for a bit of fun! i havent bolted chavy parts or spoilers on its completly OEM/OEM + Cupra R just on a Inca van... infact if anything I can safely say there is less and will always be less than 75 in the UK! making my Inca R rarer than a Ibiza Cupra R

all parts have been used or have gone already all i have remaining are 2 doors (as they are shorter on the van so couldnt use) and the rear lights and tailgate spoiler... thinks thats all i have left.... sorry

First. inca 1.8t has been done before,

secondly, if what you are refering to as just an ibiza 1 of 75 just being an ibiza and you are modding it with a run of the mills boring old van then why bother your arse.

third, you went out and spent more on a cupra R than you would have on a cupra to butcher it?? just a waste of money that could have been put back into the project imo.

and finally lets see some more pics as they speak 1000 words i hear. ones of the frone cupra R lights, red belts, r emblem dash and R seats?

edit: looking at the pics, looks like the car got a good ould shunt in the back? I remember a red one coming up for a sale a few months back if its the same one?

Not been on here for a long while but I'm toying with getting a mk3 1.8t and came across this - interesting thread.

I can see both sides but as has been said - pay yer money, make yer choices - end of.

When I did my caddy the first time in '05 I used a Leon cupra lump and did away with the 6 spd in favour of an easy-fit 5spd on the standard 1.9 sdi subframe (straight fit in with ABF rear mounts and a solid front to stop the engine rocking onto the brake master cylinder). Lightened/balanced ABF flywheel, Custom Code stage 2, FMIC, 4 bar FPR, de-cat, de- immobilised, In-cat Lambda delete, N249 delete, straight through 2 1/2" system etc etc.

More fun was had putting the wind up boxter and TT drivers (among others) than could ever be had in a hot hatch. I'd do the conversion again, given the chance, but would make one or three changes. Getting more air passing through the engine bay would be one, SERIOUSLY insulating the firewall would be another - it used to get seriously hot in the cabin. It wasn't the tidiest looking conversion by todays build standards so I guess I'd change that too. A peloquin or equivalent would be a must as 220bhp odd going through the front with a K03S spinning its heart out at low RPM's made for nightmare wet weather driving, even when trying to be sensible.

A few of the caddy lot have done the Ibiza front on the vans over the years, prefer the standard look as it adds to the element of surprise but it certainly does make the vans prettier.
