Evening,

According to the trip i'm averaging about 32 mpg which is a bit pants really for a 1.4 sc sport petrol car is 1 year old and done just under 3k mileage. Does anyone know the calculation/equation to manually work out the fuel consumption ?

Here's how to manually calculate, This was posted by another member in a different thread:

How to check mpg accurately:-1 brim the tank. 2 reset the trip. 3 run tank untill almost empty.4 Fill tank up to the same level at the same filling station. 5 get a reciept. 6 check the miles on the trip and write down. 7 divide the litres x 4.546 to get gallons. 8 divide gallons into total trip to get accurate mpg. better to do it over several tanks to get a good average allowing for weather and different driving conditions.

My 1.4 easy does 40, more like 45 most of the time, had it up to 52 avg for a tank as well. Only goes below 40 when doing lots of town driving/short journeys.

Mines done 6k miles so far, I see on average :

Drive to work (traffic/standstill and motorway, 30 minute journey) : 35MPG
Town : 30-35MPG
Motorway : 44-46MPG

It might be low because my trip to work is 4 miles down an a road so 8 mile round trip...I'm wondering if the trip has enough time to calculate the correct average mpg ? I had a mk 4 ibiza fr tdi and it was managing 44 mpg on average doing the same journeys ?

i have the 1.4 sport petrol, 30k+ on the clock and i average per week no more than 36mpg
i'm not exactly heavy footed either

32 bowt same for me I did get it to 24 for 2 days which is worse than my bros tt lol sumtimes I do carried away tho ;)

I think the panic over I reset the trip and drove into town today mostly b roads and town driving and managed 47 mpg according to the trip with a little coasting and managed just under 43 mpg on the way back. I'm presuming this is a decent return ???

Thats more like what it should be!

Not gonna lie, i have had mine down to single figures before, i like the red line...
