I have the default lights on my seat leon and everything is ok, but I would like to make my lights a little bit more exciting. I dont have xenon lights. I want to change the colour of them to a white one with a little bit blue in it, or not. Any1 that has done something like this i want to know more, see some pictures, listen to some brands and colours. . . I have no idea on this thats y i want full explanation. I also want when i change the lights to remain at least for a few years un-burnt! :p. I think PHILIPS is a great brand for me. what do u people think.

PS. Sorry for my bad english I am to sleepy!

Basically to get the bright white/blue look you need HID's ! There effectively a plug and play kit that you can buy, around 120-200 quid! Colours range in temperatures which are all measured in K(for kilowatts i believe)

4300k is a yellowy looking
8000k is a bright white
10000k is a Bright white blue (i have these) illegal but you wont get stopped for them in my experience
12000k is a purple tinge to the glow....illegal....will be stopped indefinately

Hope that helps! :D

Colour of light is measured in degrees Kelvin (not kilowatts lol). Roughly speaking:

4300K = roughly the same as daytime sunlight
5000K = pure white light
6000K = white with a blue tinge
8000K = whitish blue
10000K = blue
12000K = purple

As wjohnson pointed out, all aftermarket HID kits are illegal (to use on the road anyway). But you're less likely to be pulled over if you use either 4300K or 5000K, have installed a high quality kit with H7R modules and you've adjusted it so you don't blind every oncoming vehicle. Sadly, not many of the kits in use follow that advice and that's why there's a clampdown on them.
From next year or thereabouts, aftermarket HID kits will mean an MOT failure so you'd need to keep swapping them over come MOT time.

They're reasonably easy to install although not plug and play like sniperftw suggests. You need to drill a 25mm hole in the hard plastic covers at the back of your headlights, for the cables to/from the ballasts to pass through. You also need to find somewhere discrete to mount the ballasts.

Personally, I'd stick to the OPs idea of getting some decent big brand upgrade bulbs - something like Osram Nightbreaker Plus are very good. They're also truly plug and play and they're 100% legal too. :)

I changed to Osram Nightbreakers and Philips extreme bulbs as the standard ones were crap. I notice a decent difference, not exactly blown away by them but definitely worth the £30 for the lot off ebay.

However I was looking for brighter, clearer lights, not bothered what colour they are!

FRozz makes a good point. I was assuming that you want to actually improve your visibility while driving, and the light colour is incidental...

But if your main motivation is what the headlights look like to others - so you're more bothered about colour than output/pattern, then you should try some MTEC Cosmic Blue/White 4750K H7 bulbs. They don't put out much light at all, but it's a lovely HID-like white-blue colour. ;)

Assuming you still want to see well at night, though, the MTECs aren't very practical. Out of the three main 'highly strung' brands of bulbs: "Osram Nightbreaker Plus", "Philips Xtreme Power 100%" and "Ring Xenon Max +100%", most reports seem to put the output of the Osrams as most white. I would opt for the Osrams for the best combination of output, colour, ease of use and legality.

Using the Osram nightbreakers and yes they are a cheap alternative to HID`s, but they work very well

i have just bought two ABD'S H7 for my low beam and some W5W sidelights (ABD Extreme White) from Auto bulb direct.

They are fantastic. Really pitch white with a hint of blue. During the day they are white at night they are white with a hint of blue.

they where like 12 pound and the philips ice blue are 39.99"

all i need to do now is get the fogs done and no more yellow light :) :) :)

make sure u get 55w so u dont belt the casing!

Im looking for some bulbs also, but from what ive seen the Osram nightbreakers are pretty much bright white

But i want somethin with more of a blue tint but without getting Hid's

hi guys new to seat leons but have not had any problems with it so far(touch wood), i am looking into a set of devil eyes for my FR, just wondering what you guys think of them, if they are any good or not??

Any pictures from your car with the bulbs???

sniperftw what do you have on your white leon???

It's not considered good forum etiquette to post the same question in different threads dude... I'd guess that the reason you've had no responses is that nobody has used Philips Crystal Vision bulbs.

Which bulbs are best depends on what you want to upgrade them for... do you want to improve the power and shape of the beam to improve visibility, or do you want to improve the looks to other people with a more HID-like colour (at the expense of some light output)?

I had the Philips Xtreme Power H7s and Osram Nightbreaker H1s in my FR. Both are good. The Nightbreakers were a tad more white in colour but still nothing like the blue/White colour of HIDs.

If you just want the nice blueish colour and aren't bothered about how far you can see in front when driving at night, I'd recommend some MTEC 4750K Cosmic Blue-White bulbs. They are a very nice colour but don't light up the road too well, sadly.

i would buy the philips xtreme power but they are not available in h3 for the fog lights and the parking lights. . . what would you suggest me to do if i buy them?

On my FR, I didn't bother changing the fogs. I only changed the fogs on my current car because (a) I have factory bi-xenons and the fogs didn't match the colour and (b) I have the cornering foglights feature, so the fogs come on all the time when indicating at traffic lights or whatever.

The Philips Xtreme Power are good for visibility - they put out quite a bit more light than the OE bulbs IMHO. But they're not much whiter than a standard bulb in light colour... so no real need to match your other lights to them. :)
