my 2019 Leon has the new view button in the steering wheel that controls the digital cockpit, but it doesn't have the digital cockpit fitted, if I changed my steering wheel to a pre-2018 one that does not have this button will it work?

If the button currently doesn’t do anything then you could swap the wheel so you have the voice control button, but I wouldn’t bother the voice control is naff and never gets what you say right
My car is 2014 and have the old type of keypads: voice on the right and phone on the left. I change the steering wheel wit the new type of key pads : voice on the left and view on the right. Now voice control is still working but view doesn't do anything. You can change only the keypads, they can be removed from the wheel.
