I didn't want to start a new thread, but after reading the numerous posts on the subject i was still left looking for conclusive answers.

Coilovers would be the ideal suspension upgrade, but financial and warranty considerations have all but ruled this route out,so i decided that the Seat Sport springs could be a good compromise.

What i gathered was that the springs would reduce the ride height and the body roll, sharpening the handling in general.

1)The springs are rebranded Eibachs and lower the car 35mm,while Eibach themselves sell two different sets(one for the 1.4 TSI and the diesels and another for the other engines) that lower by 25mm?

2)Even if not fitted by a Seat dealer for an extortionate price, they may not invalidate the warranty of the suspension parts, provided a correct fitment?

3)If they lower by 35mm,how is that going to affect the Cupra, which is already 10mm lower than the Sport Suspension of the SC and has stiffer springs (55% stiffer than the standard 5 door Ibiza?)?

4)And is it true that the rear cannot drop more than 25mm on the stock(Sachs?) dampers?

So is it gonna be noticeable on the Cupra as the Seat springs appear to be the same for both the 5 doors and the SC models, meaning that the Cupra won't drop by 35mm?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think the SEAT lowering springs will fit a cupra. They certainly won't fit an FR, I asked MK SEAT and they said,
"With regard to the sports suspension, the FR is fitted with it and has stiffer shocks/springs. They may bring out lowering spring but currently nothing is listed."
Then advised me to contact customer services if i'm concerned about the ride height

I would guess the Cupra and Boc have sport suspension too, so I doubt they will fit. Techie might correct me on this though. :D

They will all fit, however they dont technically list anything for the DSG cars. However everyone else who makes suspension says the TDi fitment is ok for the DSG cars.

But I suppose if they arent type approved by SEAT for that particular model then you might aswell buy the specific Eibach set anyhow.

If you fit 35mm lowring springs meant for a regular SC or 5 door Ibiza then it will lower your Cupra 25mm than standard.

So technically MK SEAT are wrong, the springs will fit and lower the car and are suitable?
But are also right, as they are only going by what SEAT tell them?

No they arent wrong as such.

As dealers we can only really fit parts that are type approved, as they dont list the DSG cars as suitable for those springs we cant fit them.

I do believe they may bring out springs for the DSG ones sometime, from what I gathered from the Master tech at my dealer. Just don't know when............................

Thanks for the answers.25mm drop is not much, but if they really reduce the roll and the ride doesn't get noticeably worse i would order them.

Could anyone tell me how much the springs lower over the existing "sports" suspension, and how much they would lower the standard setup of say, the SE.

Seat's accessory website is none too specific with details, and I probably wouldn't have even guessed the springs they list are for both petrol and diesel models unless I'd read it here.

Haha, I did read the thread already, but that doesn't seem quite right as all the reviews I read for the sport models said the suspension was lower the standard setup - unless the reviews are incorrect and the suspension is only stiffer, not lower? :help:

EDIT: quick check on SEAT's site says that the standard height is 1428 for all of the SC models, 1445 for the 5drs. So 35mm it is!
