Seat Navigation System locked out

Hi all

My satnav is locked out, and doesn't let me enter any codes.

I have a 2001 V5, so it's an old "Seat Navigation System" made by Blaupunkt (not even the dynamic one). The dealer wrote the code down years ago, but he must have made a mistake as it didn't work. And now it's locked. It won't let me enter anything.

It's been about 18 hours since it locked up. Does anyone know whether it will time out and let me enter a code again, or do I need to take it to a dealer / send it somewhere?

Cheers

Update

So, after the unit had been locked for 2 days (although only powered on for about 2 hours in total), I decided to drag the car into the garage and leave the key in the ignition with the screen on. 4 hours later, I went out to check...

It worked! :D

Seems you need to leave the unit powered on - pretty inconvenient if you usually park in the street.

Now I just need to persuade a dealer to give me the right code without charging me.

I thought you could leave the unit on without the key in the ignition? Or does it turn itself off after a bit of time?

I'm sure the code is available within VAGCOM... no idea where though!

Certainly on mine, when you pull the key out, the unit turns off. However, if you leave the key in the ignition but at the position where you normally would pull it out, the unit stays on.

So I needed to lock the car somewhere secure, in order to leave the key in it. Maybe there was an easier way, but having a garage (however infrequently used) has its uses.

I didn't think VAGCOM covered the radio.

You need to leave the car sat still with ignition on (reds on basically)

This will unlock it, then go up to the dealership, they charged me 22 pounds, other places were trying to charge me 70!! And you dont need to take it out, they download the code from a database in germany off a laptop

Hope this helps

Ops, my battery went flat the other day, and I've got the code entry screen coming up. I've looked all through my service books and manual and was sure the code was in there somewhere but can't find it. Do you think the supplying dealer would still have a record after 11 years?

Well I have answered that one. It has to go on VAGCOM. This I had confirmed by the suppying dealer and SEAT UK customer service. Bugger and balls.

Well that wasn't so bad. A very friendly local SEAT "handler" pluged the Tolly into VAGCOM today. The code can't just be reset it would seam. He had to get the serial number off the unit too, then spent a bit of time asking the SEAT database to come up with the code. Makes me wonder if it would have been possible for a 3rd party cable and laptop would have done the trick after all. I think not, but I may be wrong. 15 minutes is all it took, and they only asked for €20 in cash from me. Very happy that I have music back for the 1000km drive home next week.

The tricky bit is getting information out of the VAG database, you need to be registered with VAG before they will let you do that.

Press the audio button to bring up the audio sources. There should be two lots of radio settings, one that is TP1/2, and one that is FM1/2. You basically just choose the FM option instead of the TP option. If it got reset it's probably defaulted to the TP version.
