nope, who ever said that might have a buggered IC or buggered pipework

I have the SeatSport FMIC and have had no issues with it at all on a Hybrid Tdi

I've read in a couple of readers rides about the SS IC leaking. Lasts for a while with the hybrid tdi boost then just gives up the ghost, but I don't personally have experience of it. But as stebbi has said his is fine so might just be luck of the draw

If your planning on running a hybrid turbo, dont bother with the SS cooler. Myself and at least 2 other lads on here have popped the cores. They will last a while, but then they just give up completely.

The black bits are where its leaking:

Seems there is only the forge item as a viable alternative and that means cutting the crash bar. I've been doing a bit of research and it seems the only other option is to use another mani (passant I think) which moves the turbo to the other side allowing a single pass cooler which is up to the job to be used.

Don't know how accurate I am as I've a bit more research to do, but hopefully that'll be an option.

Passat mani is the route I'm taking. Involves a LOT of work though. Other option is to use a single pass cooler and route the pipework back along the top of the crash bar. This is how mine is currently setup, whilst I source my new manifold.

As for Vroomtsh's cooler, that was a one off job, and he paid around £400-500 for the cooler alone. It is very good mind.

if you are thinking of going dwn forge route you might consider radtec fmic i'm biased abit cause i have it fitted to my car but they do excellent custom work for cheaper the forge and just as good any1 with a radtec fmic will confirm i would suspect

So does this mean the intercooler is no good if this has happend? (EVEN ON A STANDARD SET UP)

Seems the custom route might be the simplest way. Out of curiosity Tom how much does your setup protrude from your bumper? As I wondered if it could be concealed by a cupra bumper.

Not a great deal. Could more than likely be concealed with a cupra bumper, as there is room to move it back a fraction more.

The cooler is absolutely knackered. Once its leaking, its about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

Looks like forge are making a new cooler very soon for the mk4, if it's an improvement over the seatsport one, then could be promising!

Not surprised the seatsport one went with the amount of boost you diesel bods are running :p

And proberly alot more expensive :p

Im looking at FMIC but cant justify the price, i dont care if it wont hold massive amounts of boost, just more than the standard set-up, as after a good blast it gets hot lol

If forge where cheaper than i think alot more people would buy it, cant justify over £600 for an intercooler.
