As per title. Replaced around 3 months ago. Last night went again, same side (Passenger). No symptoms before hand, car was driving fine until bang, it was ******. Under no exreme driving either as I was just plodding down a side street.
I'm thinking there is something wrong elsewhere which is putting stress on the inner CV? Could anybody put some suggestions forward for what could be the cause?

Fittament of the last joint seemed fine, fully greased up all AOK until now.
Thinking of getting a full shaft this time, would this be wise?

Lowering puts a lot of strain on CV joints, if you're on coilovers I would strongly suggest winding them up.

Would be hearing alot more stories the same if that were the only cause though?
Not excessively low by any means, I mean some of the cars on here! It's a wonder they can get around.
Cheers dude.
Anymore?

that would mean people admitting that they were in the wrong... and as you well know - if you say you do it on the internet, it must be true

Dont know if it effects it, but have you had the camber etc.. looked at daz?

I dont think yours is too low, about the same as mine i reckon.

Yeah genuine part from Seat. Assembly was straight forward seemed fine.
Only occasion I had a moments worry was about 2 maybe 3 weeks ago I was driving uphill and hit a few potholes in the road whilst accelerating uphilll on a slight bend, made a loud nasty noise when driving over them, but no immediate problems. It's possible that that might of done some damage. Only got back off 2 week hol thurs so hasnt been driven much after that.

Good call Phill, not had it setup again after refitting top mounts/bearings.

There must be a bad batch at VW UK if they're constantly breaking, one of my inner CV joints broke on my 97 GTI and the one I removed was definately the original. That was at 106k, I think.

They're designed to sit straight with all the standard suspension in place, lowering a car causes them to sit at a bad angle, this is what wears them out. The circlip that holds it all together is only a thin strip of metal, so bumpy roads will weaken them somewhat.

Are they giving you the right part?

Was identical to original failed joint when checking before fitting Seat supplied replacement.
Have got one on order from Seat again and will get camber setup again, am quite sure those potholes had a large impact now tbh.

Are you at a dealer or factors these days?

factors ;)

couldn't agree more with potholes/speed bumps - says the man fitting a 3rd gearbox and before you say it i never dump a clutch and rarely see out of town speed or full throttle for that matter - self machining diff syndrome this time with a hint of main shaft bearing noise - lovely drone on overrun

back to the problem - can i ask how each of the 2 failed ?
