Hello,

I've recently bought a Cupra Formentor 1.5 TSI 2025 Facelift and I've done a few washes on those Self-Wash stations. The thing is that whenever I wash the car with the powerfull water jet on the front door handles it constantly Lock's and Unlock the car as if I swiped with my hand or finger. Also I have the Easy Open function equiped and active on the car for the boot, and even there if I am pointing the water jet on the boot area and the rear bumper it opens automatically the boot and this is a bit annoying..

Is there a similar discussion on the forum about this issue or maybe somebody encountered the same problem and has noticed Cupra by leaving a feedback ? I know I really cannot do much about this but maybe a software update can solve this.. I am thinking also to disable the Easy Open function in the infotainment setting maybe it helps with the boot opening by mistake but since I have this option I would like to use it whenever I feel like it.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the club!
(the car-induced headache club I mean...)
The problem you've encountered is quite common on the entire car range using kessy. There are a few workarounds you might choose from:
- disable kessy for the duration of your car wash;
- leave the key inside the car - preferably on the key-detection area next to the gear switch (this is what I always do). However, have the phone on you (outside the car) because there are some reports of cars auto-locking with the key inside (which is obviously a malfunctioning system). In that case use the mobile App to unlock your car - while praying it's one of those days the App is actually able to communicate with the car.

Hi and thank you for your response! Yes, I think for the boot part I will disable Easy Open and for the Locking/Unlocking the car I will try with the key inside the car. I will try also to get in touch with Cupra maybe my feedback will help and actually fix this issue.

^^^^ Suggestion;

Lock the car manually, disabling KESSY in the process*.

That way you will manually have to unlock the car with your key when you've finished, and the key will be safely in your pocket.

* Lock the car, using the pushbutton on the key and whilst the mirrors are folding in touch the door handle, as if to lock. This activates the deadlock and disables the KESSY auto-open. - apologies if teaching grandmother to suck eggs.
