Hey All,

I've just serviced my leon mk1 fr tdi, oil and all the filters, checked fluids, brakes etc and all was fine. In the process of changing the susp[ension strut mounts as they were highlighted on the MOT as needing doing.

Is there anyhting else that any of you would recommend that i do e.g extra cleaning or chcks that could be done whilst i've got stuff apart or tools available?

I've checked the EGR by removing the boost pipe and whilst not spotless it is far from clogged. I do however get a slight hesitation and a gasp noise at about 2000 revs which i'm sure is to do with the EGR. I've tried blocking off one of the vacuum pipes in the past which stops the hesitation but brings on the warning light. Is it ok to leave this pipe blocked??

Is it worth cleanign out the intercooler or the pipework??

any pointers/ advice appreciated!!

thanks

I'm sure a seat dealer would be happy to give you a service sheet with all the proceedures on it mate. With regards to cleaning out the intercooler/pipework - it would be a very big job as to remove the intercooler you have to remove the entire front end.

all your servicing checks seem ok to me.

Re the EGR, does sound like the issue then, blocking the pipe will log a fault on the later models but to answer your question you can run it like that, but you will have to put up with the light on the dash.

Only worth cleaning the pipework insides if its become an issue. Pop the pipe off the EGR end and see how gunky it is, oil can also accumulate in the intercooler as its lower, up you if you have the time to do it.
