Hello everyone,

I’m trying to code my 2025 VZ 333 (with Akrapovic exhaust) using the OBDeleven 3. I’ve successfully done the SFD unlock for Module 01, but the app won’t let me save any Long Coding changes.

I’m trying to update Byte 9 - Bit 2 to keep my exhaust flaps open permanently, but every time I try to write the change, I get "Access authorization required." I’ve tried the usual codes like 27971 with the hood popped, but the ECU rejects everything.

What I’ve tried so far:
  • Hood is physically unlatched/popped
  • Engine OFF, Ignition ON, Parking Brake set
  • Selected Cupra mode
  • Tried 27971, 20103, 12233, and 44595. All are rejected by the ECU
I sent an email to OBDEleven, but no responses so far. It feels like SFD2 is letting me look at the settings but won't let me touch them. Has anyone found a workaround for the 2025 ECUs, or are we just stuck waiting for a OBDEleven software update?

There is no workaround. There was a Chinese guy who offered his services to provide SFD2 tokens. I used that for some changes in my '25 Cupra Ateca but lately I heard that way is closed too. He was probably working with someone from the factory illegally and that is no longer the case.

As for the OBD11 update, don't get your hopes too high on that. Because of the legal safety requirements, manufacturers most probably won't ever be able to open it up to public. That means we'll never be able to change everything freely like in the good old pre-SFD2 days. Maybe they can offer pay-per-change services, only for some features they deem harmless.

UNECE R155 R156 says nope

Changes can unofficially be made but it can create UNECE compliance issues, it'll cause hassle every time you visit the dealer & it may affect type approval. It also costs a small fortune

Fit a valve controller

Thanks for the replies! When I contacted the OBDeleven customer support team, I provided my VIN number and all the other details they requested. They assured me that I would be able to achieve my goal using their licensed SFD unlock feature. However, I now feel like I’ve been scammed.

It might have unlocked the module, but that doesn't mean you can make changes. The whole point of the likes of SFD 2 and the UNECE regulations is to prevent people making changes that could have a negative impact on things such as emissions, cyber security, type approval, safety etc

Afraid my experience of there support teams is very mixed.

However to be clear the tool does support unlocking SFD Control units and Long Coding changes but IT DOES NOT support SFD2 Coding, it only supports Diagnostics for SFD2 Protected control units.

The OBDeleven team got back to me. They said their technical experts are continuously exploring possible solutions and collaborating with VAG.

I don’t think they’ll resolve this anytime soon, so I’m going to sleep feeling sad...

At this point, I’m not really sure what I can do with my OBDeleven besides reading and clearing warnings/errors. Every module has an adaptations page, and I tried enabling a couple of adaptations in the Dashboard module, but nothing actually changed. I also disabled the fake engine sound in Cupra mode. That’s pretty much the only useful thing I’ve managed to do with my OBDeleven so far.

Some of the control units aren't protected by SFD2. Long coding and adaptation changes can be made on those. Air Conditioning, Driver and Passenger Doors, Deck Lid, Parking Assistance and Driver Assistance are the ones I can remember right away.
