Morning,

I'm going to view the below car today. I notice that the Leon had a 'facelift' in 2017 which added a few options. Does this mean you'd recommend I forgo this 66 plate and wait 'til I find a 17 plate that fits the bill?

One of the main changes I see is the display going fully touch screen and 8inch, is this a big deal? I've actually seen a fair few complaints.

Also, this would be my first time owning a Leon, or a seat actually. Coming from a VW Scirocco. What are the main things I should be looking for?

Thanks a bunch!

I had the same car. as you are looking at. 60k faultless miles. They did have a problem with the hazard light switch - but that was easily sorted.

I replaced it like for like-ish with the facelift version Sept 17. The larger touchscreen does away with the knobs. Tbh - I preferred the original.

The BIG difference if that you can no longer get the 150hp act 1.4 petrol engine. (This is probably because VW can’t make enough of the 150hp lump as it’s the most popular engine. Or is there a long term reliability issue?) I had to settle for the 125hp - which is £1,000 cheaper - and have added a Racechip for £250 to bring it closer to 145 hp.

As the 125 hip engine doesn’t have ACT it isn’t as fuel efficient (52 mpg vs 57 mpg for me)

The is difference - registered after April 2017 VED is £140 vs £20 pa.

Choices ......

I had a 66 plate se dynamic tech and upgraded within 6 months to the 17 plate facelift fr and I much prefer it. Part of it is probably the fr spec but the cabin feels a much better place to be. The bigger touch screen and gimmicky things like the changeable colour leds in the doors were big seller for me as well as the indicators being integrated with the drls. The headlights are better in the facelift models too and the foglight are also led.

I have looked at a possible upgrade to a cupra in the future and can say without hesitation that, if I do, it will be to the facelift 300 and not the pre facelift 290 for the above reasons. Unless I go new again with the mk4 but I doubt it.

Thanks for the reply :) As with everyone else. I've just seen this one, although it is a 2 hour drive. Does this have all the features you speak about? It says 'technology' in the title however doesn't list things such as the wireless charging, will this be present?

Exactly what I did from an 1.4 150bhp FR Leon to a Cupra 300 DSG. Massive difference in power and I love it.

You’ve got to own one at some point
Yeah I'd be looking for the st 4 drive if I get one. Ultimate sleeper imo.

It'll have all the bits mentioned and as maypack says, it won't have the kessy or wireless charging unless noted as the are options.
