I almost feel ashamed to not have updated for so long. But in fairness there's not been much in the way of updates :(

I now have a beautiful baby girl and as such the Mrs has the K1 and I use her Astra VxR as a daily. K1 is 4 door so makes it easier to get baby in and out the seats.

So onto the updates. Car had a major service, cam belt and water pump replaced too at 51k miles. Not had the bumper replaced yet. Money has been needed for other things, I can't warrant spending £1200 on a bumper when the car runs fine as it is.

A good friend works at Ferrari Maserati and was able to get the car in on a Saturday to get the work done.
So that's, new spark plugs, coil packs, cam belt, water pump, oil filter, oil, ferrari spec brake fluid, coolant and washer fluids all topped up, all 4 wheels re balanced and road force tested (fantastic machine, used to simulate the car being on the road while it checks the sidewalls and balance etc ferrari have such cool tools!), 4 wheel track and alignment and a general look around to make sure all is well. I also have a new fuel filter and a new cone for the induction kit to go on next week.

Also, I finally bought a downpipe. I've gone for a 3" Decat pipe with reducer to the standard pipe. Due to be delivered tomorrow/Wednesday and once I've bought a new gasket I shall be fitting it immediately. I also plan to have stage 2 Revo loaded on by the end of the month to compliment the new setup.

On Sunday I found a rattling noise from the back, turns out one of the hangers for the back box has sheared in half and left the back box swinging! Not happy. So it's going in tomorrow to be re-welded/attached and while I'm there I'll probably chop out the middle silencer. Although I'll be making it a reversible fitting so if it's too loud with the Decat i can swap back and then I will be selling the straight through pipe work.

All of this has been sparked by the fact that around 10 of us are heading out to Nurburgring :D am so excited. I can't wait to finally get the old girl round the Nordschleife as I intended when I first bought it.

Anyway, I'll get some pics of what's been happening, the broken exhaust and all the work that's coming. Resurrect this thread somewhat

Revo stage 2 won't have a graph initially. Not figure chasing so not too worried. If it's loaded on before Sunday then I can find out at the RR day

Thanks for stopping by. Stay classy!

So I've had the backbox fixed. New hanger was welded to the existing bracket and now it sits properly once again

Broken:

Bracket:

My new decat downpipe:

I was looking to buy a torque mount rubber insert but I'm hearing mixed reviews on how useful they are. Anyone have any opinions or experiences they want to share to shed some light?

So another update. I submitted a cheeky offer on eBay for a set of THS FR3 torque mounts and oddly enough the chap accepted it. So they are on the way to me. Just need to get them fitted before my trip to the ring!!

Ok. So it turns out fitting the downpipe wasn't such a a simple task after all

To begin with, I was sent out the downpipe for an audi S3 which is slightly different in shape due to the clearance needed to get around the prop for the 4wd system. Then on the oem pipe the lower lamda sensor was a complete pig to remove. Eventually took it down to local garage and they successfully removed it for me

Anyway, downpipe exchanged and fitted, and I'm now a very happy chappy!

Pics and a soundclip to come on the weekend

Car is booked in for Revo Stage 2 Tomorrow

Here's a soundclip from 3 quick tunnel blasts. Downpipe makes the walls scream! Love love love it! https://youtu.be/TNwI44RG0OU

The only downside now, is that the clutch has started slipping. The Mrs only decided to inform me once I had asked her had she noticed before !!

Seat are offering to change it for £499 parts supplied and fitted with 2 year warranty. So I guess I'll be booking it in before the ring trip!

So I have the car back home. Stage 2 Revo with linear throttle map

The car feels so much smoother and taught. The linear throttle is a brilliant addition. It now pulls like a train!

Big thanks to the guys at TC Garage down at Crawley. Guys really know their stuff, and really were helpful. Overall I'm very happy with the car, no figures as they don't have a RR but I'm not really figure chasing. My bum dyno says it's probably gained a few horses but loads more torque so all is good

Need some ideas for clutches

I can buy oem dmf and oem updated clutch at trade price. But means I need to find somewhere to fit it
I can take it to Seat and get them to do clutch, but if dmf needs replacing then it'll cost and extra £650
I can buy new luk clutch and luk dmf from euro car parts for total cost of £300 including bolts and bearing. But again it needs fitting so I need to factor in labour costs

need to have a clutch in and broken in by 1st of May as that's when I'm heading out to the ring. And I won't have the money to be going Sachs organic just yet!

I'm with Richie, if you can afford it then go uprated clutch and OEM dmf. Especially as your running stage2 worst case scenario you got stock clutch and wheel then 12 months on its slipping again and back to square one

As stated depends how you drive her

Let's be honest your not going to go around the ring taking it easy so if you can save yourself the stress and cost of doing it twice ;)

£300 seems too cheap for Dmf clutch and hydraulic bearing?! I work for GSF and i don't think I could buy a propa LUK or sach unit for that at staff price! Might be wrong tho lol

I'm in similar boat tho as I wanna go stage 2 and unsure on whether to risk standard clutch or not, so will be watching to see what you do.

Yeah I think this will be the route I go down. Oem dmf and a sachs clutch. There's a sachs Kevlar clutch for sale at £250. But I hear Kevlar is a pain in the butt
