I was gonna say that looks like the transformer glifs off the 2nd film. I like the eco spoiler.

Hehe ok, yeah especially i like the brakelight in the eco-spoiler. The coolest thing i made for the car was a bassbox in the shape of a cube, 31X31 cm. It is painted and cut like the "Allspark" and it perfectly fits a 10" bass. The volume of the box is about 19L.

But anyway. I prefer the stubby one i´ve got instead of the sharkfin, and i haven´t had any issues with the reception either so far. I´ll soon be mounting a Pioneer multimedia-reciver in the car so we will see how the reception of the radio is after that.. But i reckon it ill work just fine.

The brand of my antenna is "Race sport", costed about 10-12£

It's the same aerial as the guys above are talking about. Mine must be faulty as I haven't heard anyone else with the same problem. Let me know how you get on with yours mate.

Hi Gary

Just fitted my stubby and the reception is very good, same as before really. Just looks a lot smarter now! :)

You must've had an dodgy one mate.

Also, an heads up to SC16v for the video guide. Very useful indeed! Cheers dude :)

aerial's arrived tried to have a look at it. but you have to take the whole of the roof lining off to get to the aerial which is a epic pain then threes a bolt didn't want to rip the roof so couldn't get my hand in to it so dose anyone know how to take the roof lining off if took the too plastic holders above the boot off is there anything else that needs taking off

I've changed the whole roof of the car and taken everything off except the door panels so I know how to take the lining off.

One thing before we go: you can't get the lining out the car since it isn't foldable and it's not going to fit any of the doors in one piece. The only way is to remove the windshield or to fold it a bit. I folded mine a bit to get it out and took off the windshield to get it back in.

However, to take off the antenna you don't really have to take off anything else but the white plastic covers on both top sides of the boot (the other one having the boot light in it) and the white plastic holders. After that you can pretty much bend it just enough to feel the antenna screw and nut. The antenna comes off just by holding it and loosening the nut. No scratches should appear if you're gentle. Make sure your hands are absolutely clean ALL THE TIME! The lining is a real pain to clean after you have smeared it.

On the other hand taking off the entire lining and laying it on the bottom of the car is an option, too! The things holding it up are:
- door and boot hatch rubber sealing lips
- two white plastic buttons at the back
- white plastic covers on both sides of the boot (to remove these, remove 4 screws and just pull from top)
- white plastic covers on both B-pillars (between doors, to remove these just pull from bottom)
- sun visor brackets (these have 1 screw each, behind a cover plug)
- sun visors (these have 2 screws each, behind covers - the covers are hard to get off, but they do come off with a good pull with a right tool!)
- interior light (this has two screws, you can see them after you take off the light cover)

If I manage to find a decent fin here in Finland (hee-hee :D) I might do a tutorial on this.

Oh! And the aerial connector didn't look anything like the one showing in the ebay-link shown earlier in this thread.

This is the big question mate. thanks for the info, the big thing for me is if the shark fin aerial will work or not. It has been mentioned it wont but I can't help think it will with a bit of modification if necessary.

On my old car I changed my roof lining and all the plastics took me a all day plus need two of you to do it. So when you change your aerial be patience when putting it all back together lol

Well, the quickest way to find out if it works or not would be taking the head unit off and trying the fin straight in. If there's any degredation of signal it will NOT work due to the fact that the coax cable (running all the way from back of the car) will dampen the signal significantly.

It is most likely the fin won't work since the radio is coupled with a certain aerial system.

I will certainly test this one out when I have the time. Probably a few weeks from now since I have to install the eberspächer/espar heater and quite a bunch of other stuff first.

I'd bet you can install the new antenna without taking the whole lining off and since I removed AND re-installed the lining all by myself you shouldn't need a friend to do so either. The lining is very light and surprisingly rigid/tough so there's very little risk of breaking it if you are careful at all. (I have 10 thumbs, so..) :D
