Short Shifters

Anyone got one? What one do you have?



I'd like one but i'm not that keen on the B+M as it replaces the gear knob and costs a fortune.


Does anyone have a different O2J counterweight shifter thing as well?

There are a few other options than the B+M.

You can fit the Neuspeed short shift thats for the 5spd box's. Thats £99 + Vat, or you can fit the shifter from the 2WD Audi TT's. This is only £20 from us and reduces throw by about 15-20%. Nice cheap and easy mod. Ive got the TT shifter fitted, but have never tried the Neuspeed.

With those two you also keep the STD gear knob

I do like it dont get me wrong, i'd just like to keep the standard knob.


£20 quid mod does sound like a bargain, but i would like something up around the 40% mark.

Forge have started doing these for the 6 speed may be worth finding out if they are doing a 5 speed one?

Mark from Forge gave me a call earlier about their new short shifters.

They are currently only making one for the 2002 onwards cars with the 6 spd box. The earlier models will be taken care of in the next few months depending on how the first ones take off.

They may or may not do the 5spd ones in the future, but it all depends on how the 6spd ones take off. Short shifters are very new to them as this is the first one they have done. Its excellently made and fits very well as all Forge products do

Best thing to do is for us all to pester them to make a 5spd one for us. Im sure if around 10 people call or email them they would be up for making one.

Did you notice much difference with the TT one, i struggle with 2nd-3rd as i'm tall-ish.

I have the TT one from Alex and there is a difference, esp 3rd to 4th, 4th is a lot shorter, 2nd is still better than standard though, worth the £20 imo
