on a vag com scan if a sensor shows up to be short to b+ does that mean theres a wiring problem or is it just a case of getting a new sensor

i'd say new sensor needed, unless there is a few coming up then could be wiring somewhere

A short to b+ indicates that the input circuit in the control module is seeing battery voltage on the input pin. It could be a bad sensor, it could be a wiring problem, or it could be a ground has come off. You will need to take a volt meter and check the circuit.
