anyone else finds that the travel of our mk2 tdi 110hp gearshifter is f***ing long?
in third it almost hits the buttons for the windows"bit extreme but hey"

is there a shortshifter or a diy thingy?

dave, clicked on the link that pete gave and it says that the short shift is for all medel mk2`s from 93-98! so will that fit my 1.4 too? is is something you change at the base of the gear lever?

back when we were younger it was standard process to hacksaw ya lever and rethread the top to make a shorter lever..to make a "diy" short shifter, but in ibizas id imagine it would bring them too far down to reach comfortably

haha, ive actually done that as i had all the linkage off anyway. not done it too short and it works fine.

chopping it down doesnt reduce throw, the B and M kit reduced travel by 45%.

it does but admittedly you'll need to chop the gearstick in half for that sort of reduction

most of it's done with the angles underside i would guess

The B&M kit does it by moving pivots

obviously i didnt expect to have the same feel as the BandM kit by chopping it down but then again it is a lot shorter, and it cost me nothing
