Hello all,

The time has come where I'm exploring my options for the end of the lease on my current (MK3) Leon FR which is due to go back in February.

After an unfortunate incident with a deer I spoke to the dealer the other day about a new grill. We then got chatting about a "preferential early termination" of my current Leon for the MK3 Leon FR Black Edition. 36 month PCH, 10,000 miles, with 1 up front payment is coming out at £250pm on that one.

The question is, do I go for it, or do I hold out for the new Leon? Opinions please....

In certain images I don't like the new one, but in some I do. The gizmos and gadgets are pretty cool though!

I should add, that by changing now I’m likely to avoid paying out around £1000 in terms of third service, 3 new tyres, damage repairs (bumper respray and new grill from the deer incident), and excess mileage charges.

Well it depends on how bothered you are by having an old shaped model. Personally I prefer the MK3 and the monthlies on the new one aren’t likely to be cheap to lease until significant numbers are on the road. It depends on whether you so desire the new shape and want to take the £1000 hit and then find another deposit for the new one.

A new mk4 fr on lease is going to be nowhere near £250 probably closer to £350

what also happens with end of line models you get lots of kit added in, when a new model comes out it’s back to basics, although to be fair the mk4 looks fairly well specced

I opted for the MK3 FR Black Edition in Magnetic Grey. Ordered yesterday, hopefully be able to pick it up soon, but depends on when the lockdown finishes of course. Don’t think there is any extra kit than usual, and as it’s the last few I wasn’t able to choose wheels. I’ve ended up with the 5 spoke one. I wasn’t sure on them at first but they are growing on me. I can’t help but think the arch gap is bigger with the 5 spoke compared to the other ones on offer. Both 18” though

Seeing a lot of the 5 spoke ones now, must have a large pile of them sitting spare they need to get rid of

Yeah I’d imagine most would’ve opted for the other wheels. I don’t understand why the wheel arch gaps looking bigger with the 5 spoke!? Same tyres, size same wheel.

From the pictures looks like the one on the multi spokes is not brand new (see worn brake discs) and the one on the 5 spokes is brand spanking so maybe needs time to settle or has been jacked up to fit the wheels, you can tell as no centre caps have been fitted to the wheels

my leon took a few months to settle down to a nice height, maybe even as long as a year. Looks a lot less 4x4 now

I didn’t even realise that settling down was a thing mate. Thank you!

Could it be that one with 5 spokes is straight off the transporter and hasn't had the transit blocks removed yet?
