As the title says. Im looking into replacing the pcv system that was ripped out by the last lad that owned the car before me. its currently had everything removed bar the puck, isn't even running a catch can.
Just curious to know if there's a simplified way of keeping the pcv and hockey puck in place, without all the usual pcv setup.
looked into catch cans, even bought one.. just undecided on what to do after reading a thread on vwvortex thats put me right off fitting one

I think its all or nothing im afraid.
They turn up on ebay complete occasionally.

I wouldn't reccomend aftermarket/silicone stuff you see for sale as it just doesnt fit well without major butchery (my experience anyway).

Not as hard as it looks to fit also.

Afternoon Rich,

I thought as much mate. Was just looking at the creation motorsport silicone stuff too, not worth the grief then huh?

I may even end up fitting the can and keeping up with more regular oil changes. I can see emptying the can of condensation doing my head in over time though!..

It'll be better than the current setup anyway

The gunk still appears in the pcv setup regardless from what I can gather from other threads

Yeh, it was the creation stuff i tried then binned.

I guess the standard setup does fill with crap eventually but it takes years to happen.
I should imagine itll be 5 or 6 years before i take it apart again to check for blockages. And tbh, i dont know weather or not I'll still have the car by then.

Just to say, i like creation stuff and have some of their hoses on my car.
But as for the pcv parts they do, i wouldn't give you a fiver for em.

I had no problems at all with the Creations pipes. Sorry Rich!

My MPG was stuck at 32/33 before as well. Now I'm getting 36/37.

Ah right, i'll steer clear then.

Tbh i think it'll just make sense to replace everything back to factory.. it'll be my DD, live 10min from my works.. so im gunna be doing a ton of short drives anyway, can see me having to empty the can constantly.

ta mate
