Does anyone have a picture of the green connector that goes into the back of the dials. i know it should have a purple release clip but the one on mine is missing so don't know how to remove the connector

can someone even explain how the clip releases. at the side of the connector i can see a little red plastic part that i can press down with a screwdriver. is this what the purple part does. the is at the bottom of the connector when looking at it. i did press it down but still would not come out. need out so i can sort the solder

I did this last year but can't remember sorry. But certainly wasn't the hardest part! I remember the dial needles being an absolute pig!!

Give me 10 mins and I'll send one, I've just had to source one as mine broke!

It's obvious when you see te pic but the purple bit levers up, just have to push in a little green tab

First one is lever closed, push the green tab in and pull the lever up. Pulling te lever then pulls the connection out.
It also squeezes the connection together for a tight fit

Just read yours is missing! Just like mine! I just had to pull it! Or lever it gently with a screwdriver! The green part actually comes off the connector, best trying to get a new one, I got one from a scrap car for £2

so what that purple thing does is squeeze the green part so that it comes out easy and when its in the closed position it makes it a tight fit when its connected to the dials. If so would it help if i got pliers in behind it and squeezed it to help it come out?

I managed to lever the last remaining purple bit but depends if your has any left. Perseverance with a screwdriver would be the way forward!

well having spent 3 hours looking at them pictures of yours it suddenly came to me, that purple part was something had seen before when i 1st bought the car. turns out it was sat in the ashtray and me having no idea what it was i put it in the glove box for safe keeping. Also today i asked seat how much for new dials and fitting. Comes in at £450 and they dont supply the old six dials. he said it was the new 4 dials you get as they dont make the 6 ones anymore due to faults with them. Really lol

Ha what a nightmare! You manage to get it out in the end then?

£450?! Brilliant, love crazy seat prices! Btw, the green connector, £10 from seat, got part number if you need one.

A good re solder should work mate, or failing that second 4 dial set and get them re coded in

I have some fr dials im yet to code in, my local seat dealers denied ever hearing that the 6 dials where at fault and SEAT UK emailed me saying it is impossible to code in 4 dial dashes.... even though dozens of people have achieved it . They are just rip off merchants tbh

Well according to my local dealer, the dials have now been super seeded by the newer ones as they just did a set last month for the same faults i have. Think it just depends on the guy behind the desk at the time. The mech at seat also told me he would code in a second had set for me if i could get them cheaper

Local dealer is kilmarnock...
Got the dials out today and took it to my local computer repair shop.
he has told me that every pin was faulty and would need repaired for a fee of £15.
hope to get it back today at some point.
The guy who had the car before me had glued a bit of wood beside the connector to force a connection lol and had stuffed paper behind the clock. what a fud

Get the FR clocks in mate and get them coded if you can, I did and do not regret having it done. No more fluctuating gauges etc. faults. I do miss the extra dials but prefer four that work to when the others didn't.

Ok so all pins where fixed and then checked for any bridging. Everything looks great on the solder front but with it all back in my rev counter does not work. Every other dial works fine but that. it did work before so could anyone have any ideas. all pins look 100% under a magnifying glass. Going to take it out again just make sure the connector is pushed right in
